Hello! My name is Nicola. Welcome to my website. I am the owner of Top Marks Education.

Let me tell you something about my background and how I can help you:

About Me

• I have always had a great love of learning and my particular passions are English and history

• One of my greatest joys in life is passing on the knowledge and skills I have learnt and seeing my students grow in their confidence and ability.

• Knowing that I have made a difference to someone's life through my teaching gives me true satisfaction.

My Education

• 1997: BA Hons in Humanities (English major) Trinity College, Carmarthen (University of Wales)

• 1998: PGCE in Education and Training (University of Wales College, Newport)

• 1998: City & Guilds Initial Certificate in Teaching Basic Skills: ESOL

• 2002: City & Guilds Initial Certificate in Teaching Basic Skills: Literacy

• The School of TEFL's Basic TESOL course (Awarded: "Excellence")

My Career

• In the early years of my career I worked in the Further Education sector.

• Top Marks Education was established in 2000 as a provider of freelance teaching services.

• Up until 2020 I provided one-to-one teaching to clients in Grantham and the surrounding area.

My subjects included:

11+ preparation

Literacy (Primary Aged & Adult)

Numeracy

English (Including GCSE, AS & A Level English)

English as a Second Language

• Alongside my face-to-face teaching I have extensive experience in teaching online EFL/ESL students from all over the world.

• I also provide proofreading and writing services through Precise Prose Writing Services

• In 2020 I made the decision to provide all learning online. I wholeheartedly believe that learning in an online environment can be just as effective and successful as traditional face-to-face lessons.

My Mission

• I pride myself on providing expert teaching at a time to suit the learner.

• For me, every one of my students is a unique individual and I firmly believe in adapting my teaching methods and resources to meet those specific needs.
